BRAZOS BRAZOS HIGHER EDUCATION AUTHORITY, INC.

The Brazos Higher Education Authority, Inc. (the "Authority) is a Texas non-profit corporation organized under the terms of the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act and operating in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 53 of the Texas Education Code to provide a secondary market for loans to eligible students attending an eligible institution of higher education in the State of Texas.

Brazos, through its various groups, commonly referred to as "The Brazos Group", furnishes financing for the unmet financial needs of college and university students attending community college, technical college, public and private 4-year universities, and graduate schools and the private origination of loans, and a secondary market for the acquisition of loans made by banks, insurance companies, and credit unions.

To fill the financial needs, Brazos provides loans authorized by the U.S. Department of Education (Title IV, FFELP, Parent Loans, and Consolidated Loans) U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Loans (HEAL) and Technical Education Resource Loans (TERI), an other consolidated and private alternative loans.

At the present time, the Authority is the largest non-profit secondary market for student loans operating in the State of Texas. Its function is to provide funds for lower income and needy students regardless of race, color, creed, religion, age or gender.

The Authority currently operates with four trustees:

  1. Chase Bank of Texas, N.A., Houston, Texas
  2. Bank One Texas, N.A., Austin, Texas
  3. Firstar Bank, N.A., Cincinnati, Ohio
  4. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Fort Worth, Texas

The Authority currently operates with three underwriters to handle the issuance and sale of its bond obligations:

  1. Salomon Smith Barney, New York, New York
  2. Bank of America, N.A., Dallas, Texas
  3. PNC Bank, N.A., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Authority currently operates with ten sub-servicer:

  4. USA Group Loan Services, Inc.
  5. SunTech, Inc. (SUNTECH)

  9. Educational Funding Services, Inc. (EFSI)
  10. Sallie Mae Servicing Corporation (Sallie Mae)

The Authority currently has insurance agreements with:
